~Breakfast Ideas~

Some of our Fav's

Baked Oatmeal (I made it a little more healthy)

1 cup oil (I use 1 cup applesauce)
1 1/2 cup sugar (I use 3/4 cup raw sugar)
4 eggs
6 cups oats (these things are cheap!)
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon (I use a well rounded tsp!)
2 cups milk
Fruit...I add two apples or a bunch of raisins, craisins or blueberries. Or I add fresh bananas to the top right before serving.

Combine all ingredients in order listed. Pour into greased 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 375 for 30-40 minutes. Can refrigerate overnight before baking. Serve topped with butter, brown sugar, and milk...I only top with milk.

Baked French Toast

I use this one from all Recipes...BUT it is too mushy for us so I don't put any half and half in. I also cut back the brown sugar to 1 cup and totally skip the corn syrup. I also don't like the two step process. I mix everything together and pour it over the bread at night. In the morning, I flip the bread while the oven is heating and cook it that way. Perfect...yum!

Sausage gravy and Biscuits is another favorite around here. We even add scrambled eggs! Layer biscuits, eggs, sausage gravy and top with shredded chedder...broil til cheese is melted...yum!

Of course Granola from here. Served with milk or homemade yogurt!

We almost always enjoy Cheesey Scrambled Eggs and Scrapple on Saturdays. Every once in awhile I'll make omlets.

Sarah asked about a picky breakfast eater. I have had a few children that only ate two meals a day and pick at the third. I personally just let them pick. They were not allowed snacks between meals and generally that wasn't a problem. They have all outgrown that and eat three full meals and would eat a fourth if they could talk me into fixing it:-) So Sarah, I'd say not to worry about it!

~From the Weekend~

I'm running a bit behind this week. I have had a very full schedule. I hope to get a few posts up within the next couple days. So much going on!!

Last Saturday night we were invited out for dinner:-) We had a relaxing dinner and nice conversation. The boys really enjoyed the dog door...

Saturday was very beautiful. The boys spent some time raking leaves and playing in them...
We have been enjoying anywhere from 7 to 11 eggs a day from our chickens! I figure we are spending $9 on chicken food and getting about 9 dozen eggs. After they are done laying, we let them out to wander the yard. They are so much fun to watch!
Eric found a butterfly...

I spent some time scrapbooking on Sunday between our church services too!

~One of Each, Please~

I just enjoyed looking through the new Lamplighter catalog! Oh my, what a great collection of books!

This is the collection I have...
I think they have over 135 books now! They have even started producing audio books! Yipee! It is very difficult to pre read books for Jordan...he reads really fast! I would have no problem giving him one of these without even looking at it.

So, as soon as I find a couple thousand dollars lying around...I'll place my order:-) I'd never be able to choose just one!

~Nine Weeks Already~

My little Kiersten is already nine weeks old!She has slept through the night three times now. Don't ask about last night!!! Yikes, she was up three times before she really loaded her diaper. I am thankful for the time change. She was going to bed at 10:30 and I was anxious to get to bed myself. Now she is going to bed at 9:30 and I have a whole hour to get some things done!
Kiersten continues to be a very content little girl. She is my only child that likes the swing and she will just sit on my lap. She loved licking and sucking on that little blanket I made BUT, I must confess, I forgot to prewash the black! I went to pick her up and her little mouth was all black!!! Now the whole little blanket has a black tinge to it. I'll have to try again. It's a good thing the blanket was easy to make and that I didn't have to buy anything!

~I Love Lunch Break~

We have a nice play time scheduled into our day after lunch. I am normally trying to catch up on wash or dishes but today I wanted to finish sewing the boy's pajama pants. All I need to do now is put the elastic in and hem them!

BUT, while I was cleaning up, I decided to quickly sew a tag blanket for Kiersten...

The front is flannel

the back is corduroy

Now to get my lunch dishes done before supper!?!?!? Yikes!

~Crafting Seasonal Word Blocks~

Some blocks, some stickers and some paint...

I crafted these last night while watching Fiddler on the Roof...a nice and quiet Friday night! The boys were all upstairs watching a movie with Gregg.
Seven blocks make up 16 different seasonal words! Do you like the black or brown better!?!?!?

You can find the directions here at Poppies at Play!
