~Sledding~

We had some weekend plans that didn't really involve snow... but snow we got.

Gregg and I had a dinner date with 5 other couples.  Because of the timing of the snow, our groups shrunk in half.  We still had a great time at a Japanese Steakhouse enjoying our Hibachi!  The kids had a great time too.

Saturday morning was the first we were able to enjoy the snow.  Kiersten really wanted to sled and we all ended up going with her.

Our "hill" is our driveway and the bigger boys are getting a bit too big to enjoy that hill.  Jordan spent his time pushing the younger ones.

I had fun throwing a ball to the dogs.  They love digging into the snow with their noses to find it.  The snow was light and fluffy so they really had fun throwing it around

Kiersten could carry her own sled up the hill and even figured out how to push herself off when there wasn't a brother available.

Jared was trying a different view...
 Nathan :-)

Ok, now I'm ready for spring!

~Loom Knitting~

I found a really good price on some knitting looms.  Kiersten and I sat down Sunday afternoon to see if we could figure it out.  I wrapped the yarn and she "hooked it over."  She did a really good job too.  Here is our first project...

A doll hat.

 Here is our 2nd project...

I'm not that impressed with the finished product... but maybe we just need a different design to do.
I have been searching patterns and will be ordering a library book to get more ideas.  I think this will be a fun thing to do while I'm trying to get her to sit quiet!  Nathan even enjoyed doing a row.

~Racing Banquet~

Our racing banquet was a few Saturdays ago.  The kids always have a great time... but they wish they were racing instead.

Kiersten took her seat and looked through the schedule...

Jordan received a 3rd place trophy for his class and for the winners classic race.

Jared received a 5th place trophy

Aaron received two second place trophies and one 3rd place winners classic

Eric received one first place points trophy and a 3rd place winners classic

They are anxious to get their cars out and ready for a new season.

~Flounce Scarf~

I tried this way of just basically chaining the scarf (top of page)... but I didn't like that there was a back side.

So I tried this way of crocheting rows (bottom of page)... but it wasn't working up as quickly as I wanted and it was hard to find my rows.

I caved and got out my knitting needles and tried this one... (I don't like knitting!) and loved the result!  It actually only took me a day to complete one scarf.

Kiersten has already claimed one but said she would let me borrow it:-)

~Entrelac Scarf~

I started knitting this last May.... A few months of work... looking at the directions for every single row... I made s.l.o.w. progress.

I finally got the hang of it at the end of the summer and was able to pick up some speed.  I would still much rather crochet, but I am so happy with the results of this project!

This was a gift for my mother in law so it has been shipped out and received by now.  I actually miss not having this to pick up and work on.  I have some other half finished projects I need to get back to... so I still have plenty to do!

Here is my little model... cute, no?!?!?

The free instructions are here... and there is even video!  I would have never even started it without the video!

~For Fun~

Have you seen these...

They crack me up.

I had "nothing" to do this afternoon... well, nothing I really wanted to do! So, I played a little bit.
All the photos are from our own racing club... except the horses :-)

~Eric's 8th Birthday~

Eric got sick the day after Christmas.  We all passed it around.  I am fairly certain we all had the flu.  I am thankful that none of us ended up at the doctor.  I heard they are really busy right now.  A lot of hospitals in the area are having a hard time finding beds for everyone.

We were all healthy by Eric's birthday on Friday!

He wanted tacos for his birthday dinner with a side of Cheetos.  My mixer was sent out for repair so we had to think outside the box for a "cake."  I think he was happy with what we settled with, but be sure, I will be baking the day the mixer is returned! :-)

I don't know what it is with boys and knives, but they love them!

We also gave Eric a case for the gun we gave him on Christmas.

Eight years!  It is hard to believe.

~Kiersten Quotes~

My little doll baby has really been enjoying communicating.  You can see her think and then respond to what is going on around her.  I have a feeling she is going to crack us up a lot this year!

The other day I told Gregg that Jordan was going to jump in the shower.  Kiersten looked at me... paused... and smiled.  She started jumping around and laughing that Jordan was going to "jump in the shower."  Not much later it was my turn to "jump in the shower."  She came over to the door to listen and informed me I wasn't jumping:-)

I usually take Kiersten to the grocery store with me every Thursday night.  Long story short, I had to leave her home because of her attitude.  She was screaming!  I got home and noticed she looked pale.  I asked Gregg if she was ok and he said "she screamed her heart out."  Kiersten looked shocked and put her hands up to her chest and said "it's out!?!??!?"

Oh my :-)  There are several other things she had said lately that just make me laugh.  I don't often get to stop what I'm doing to write them down, but I know I need to because I simply won't remember!

~Christmas 2012~

We had an enjoyable Christmas! We spent the morning at home opening gifts.  All the kids got exactly what they wanted:-)

I actually went to bed at a good time Christmas Eve! and had cinnamon rolls raising in the fridge overnight.  That was the first year I tried that and it worked very well!

Jared got an ipod

Jordan received a knife, tools and a shirt

Aaron and Eric got new pellet guns
Nathan got a knex set and crossbow

Kiersten got Raggedy Ann and Andy with some books and a Calico Critter Dollhouse

The kids have already used their new things with great enjoyment.  The weather had been mild so the boys all go out to target shoot every afternoon.

Kiersten loves her new doll and the little tiny pieces to her doll house.

We spent the afternoon with my parents and brother's family.  All the guys had a nerf gun war... I hid inside where it was warm!
