~Sunscreen~
I really like the one in the tall white bottle. I burn very easily, and being out in the sun all day Saturday I really need something that will last. It sprays on... no rubbing in... and smells wonderful. No burn either!
The one in the short orange bottle also works, but the pump broke and the lotion is white and needs to be rubbed in.
Both lotions work well on Nathan and Kiersten too. The older boys don't really like to use it :-)

~My Egg Trick~
Twenty one fresh eggs every day are a lot!
I have had to come up with new and exciting way to serve eggs. My guys love deviled eggs, red beet eggs and egg salad... but, I hate peeling fresh eggs. I tried to let them sit for a week in the fridge but that still didn't work... not to mention the fact that 8 dozen eggs take up a lot of room!
I was reading about eggs and read that they do not "need" to be refrigerated... once they are refrigerated, they need to stay refrigerated though. One day without refigeration is like one week in the fridge.
So, I tried leaving my eggs out for 3 days on the counter and then I hard boiled them. They were still a little rough to peel. I tried 4 days and they were perfect! I have been doing this for two months and have only had 2 eggs that were rough to peel! (I'm guessing someone put them in the wrong basket.)
I have waited 5 days to do two days of eggs together and haven't had a problem. I'm not sure I'd leave them out in a heat wave, but for now, it is working well!
They peel so nice that Kiersten often helps me!

~Dog Bandage~
Bullet was outside running around this morning. Jordan noticed her foot was bleeding. I sprayed it off with the hose to see what the problem was. She broke off her nail! Ugh! Just in case that happens to you, you can put flour or corn starch on it to help it clot and add pressure if it doesn't want to stop. Bullet left the bandage on for a few hours. It looks sore but she doesn't seemed bothered by it today.

~In the Oven~
I just took the sheets out, peeled off the crispy stuff and ran hot water over them. I scrubbed a little but they really came clean easily! Well worth it!!!

~Strawberries~
I almost missed out on strawberry season this year. I couldn't figure out how to finish school, take care of Kiersten, and pick strawberries!
My neighbor came to the rescue by letting me pick a big bucket from her garden! I was able to make two batches of strawberry freezer jam and two strawberry rhubarb pies! YUMMY!
Here are two tips I learned this year!
* Clean your strawberries with the tops on. If you take the tops off the strawberries they will soak up the water and make the strawberries really wet. This is especially true if you fill the sink with water to wash them instead of just spraying them off.
* Tapioca is the best thing that ever happened to fruit pies! We are, without a doubt, a cake family. We love fruit and will eat pie but don't normally crave it. I don't like the leftovers either. All that runny fruit juice making a mushy pie crust. TIL NOW! I read somewhere that if you use tapioca with your fruit pies it jells up and you can't even see the tapioca. I used the recipe right on the box and, wow, it really works well and is soooo easy! I'd be making more pies... if only I could figure out how to make a pie crust!

~Change of Plans~
We also stopped by the library to pick up these books I had ordered...
Once home, I hung out the wash, packed lunch and laid on the couch for 15 minutes before leaving to take the boys bowling. Again, a dead battery. Maybe God wants me home today. So, home we are! I spent a lazy couple of hours laying on the couch reading about chickens and playing picnic lunch with plastic food...compliments of Nathan! I didn't realize how tired my body was...thank you God for the battery problems! and double thank you for not letting me sit at the greenhouse or the library!
I'm off to clean up the kitchen and make fruit salad for a picnic we are going to tonight. I have thrown away my to do list for tomorrow...I'm enjoying a quiet day at home (hopefully!) with my two little guys while the big boys do big boy stuff! I guess those big blue bins will decorate my dinning room for a few more days...
Happy Weekend!
