~More Snow Photos~

If you live in the North East, you might want to skip this post. You are probably tired of seeing snow photos!

This was our road yesterday...And now today!!! (looking the opposite direction) Thanks to neighbors with a bobcat and bulldozer! The main roads are not even clean.

Here was out my front door...

Today after shoveling. Can you see how deep it is!Here, now you can see how deep it is!

Wow! Looks like 25 inches on the ground! I am not sure how much of Saturdays snow we lost and the snow from yesterday has settled from the warm sun today. I wish I would have measured before today.

It was a beautiful, sun shinny day! We even had a nice sun set!
And because you all love to see sleeping baby photos....
Kiersten folded her hands like that when I was rocking her to sleep.

~More Snow~

This has been an incredible year for snow! People around us were measuring 20" on Saturday. I haven't heard anything official but I'm thinking we got at least another 18" today. This was our picnic table after Saturday's snow...
The 20" really drifted. You can see grass and a drift that Aaron is jumping into.

This was our picnic table tonight...

I am hoping to get out tomorrow to take some good photos! I am thankful to still have power!

~2010 Goals - Update~

Well, here is my first month update! I don't think I did very well, but did get to a few things!

Wisdom...
  • Nothing with gardening. I hope to start planning my garden in the next 6 weeks.
  • Local government...I got a bumper sticker! I know it's not much, but it is a start! A man I know personally is running for Gov. and I am hoping to help out in some way.
  • Budgeting... I am still keeping track of everything I spend. Oh my! It is difficult!
Stature...
  • I've only tried one new recipe. I've been a bit slack in this area. Some days it is all I can do to get hot dogs on the table :-) (yuck!)
  • No exercising. Kiersten just started sleeping through the night so I should be able to add this to my day soon!
  • I am really trying to cut that bedtime snack out of my routine. It is a habit I am finding hard to break! (I am eating a muffin right now...ugh!)
With God...
  • My Proverbs study is slow going. I was surprised at how many days I miss! Again, if Kiersten keeps sleeping through the night, I'll be able to be better with this time! I just about got through the book once. I am highlighting different words in different colors to make my study easier in the months to come.
  • I started my first book... I am really enjoying the simpleness of it! It came with a workbook. I really like that! I can speed read without retaining. This way I take notes and actually stop and think about it! I will be having Jordan read this when he turns 12!
  • I have memorized January's verse and am starting on February's! I still haven't chosen my passage for this year...I know I better hurry!
With man
  • We were able to have the youth over for a progressive dinner
  • We had two families from church over
  • I talked to a lady at a craft shop. We were looking through pattern books and started chatting. She pulled out photos of her felted projects. She does an amazing job! I didn't think about it until later but I should have told her that God certainly gifted her in that area. That may have opened up a door.
  • I have not done a good job of being a joy filled mom... my hardest task for sure!
Those were my main goals for the year. I also had some other goals for the month like put Christmas away, give all five boys hair cuts, finish my sister-in-laws birthday gift, crochet snowflakes, scrapbook two months of photos and recover pillows. I finished almost all of that. Only one month of scrap booking got done and half of the pillows are recovered.

I am writing my list for February as we speak (I know I'm a week late!). It really does help me to have a list... it is much easier to stay focused!... and an extra 5 min can be spent doing something rather than thinking about what I need to be doing!

~Snow Day~

We got dumped on this weekend...

The drifts were so big it was hard to tell how much we got...

Looks like somebodies fort collapsed!
The worst part was digging out the chickens! We had to shovel to get to them and then shovel to get to their food. Then more shoveling to empty their house! They were glad to see us! We almost lost one Friday night... it didn't come home before the snow started and thankfully one of the dogs found it half buried in the snow!

I hear there is more snow coming...ugh! I got to try out my new ice scraper... I need to add about 3 inches to the length!

~5 months~

I can't believe Kiersten is five months old already. It is getting hard to remember not having her around to snuggle with!

She thrives on eye contact. Kiersten certainly knows and loves her brothers... She squeals, spits and kicks when happy. If you growl at her, she growls back!

She has started looking intently at people she doesn't know. She really checks them out! She loves her fingers! For a special treat she chews on other people's fingers.

Still not the greatest sleeper... but she is getting better!

~Meet Yankee~

Everyone, meet Yankee... Yankee meet everyone.

This is Nathan's constant companion. They go everywhere together. Sometimes Yankee cries and Nathan needs to go get him. Sometimes Yankee is sad and Nathan needs to make him happy. Once, when Yankee was lost, Nathan said he went to get groceries and he would be back. All my boys at some point played with a stuffed animal but none with this amount of imagination! I must admit I play right along. "Nathan, Yankee says he is tired and wants you to take a nap with him ;-)" Hehe! I think he will soon look like the Velveteen Rabbit!

~Couponing~

I haven't done any couponing for awhile...like probably a year. I don't miss the piles of coupons lying around but I do miss the deals! I started reading Money Saving Mom again. I've gotten several free things through the mail...insert smile! I also printed out a bunch of coupons. My only local store that will take printed coupons is that big mart store that seems to suck all the money out of me. I stay away from that place if I can. I decided I would go this week and only buy what I had a coupon for...how fun! I did get some light bulbs and batteries and a few other small odds and ends but this was from my coupon stash...Almost $50.00... after coupons it was less than $20... insert big smile :0) That was fun!
