~Scrapple~

Somebody asked what scrapple was. (It was part of our Valentine brunch.)

It comes in a chunk like this...

We cook it on an skillet like this...

It is a very cheap breakfast "meat." I pay 99 cents a pound full price for a family size block. We prefer pork/beef but they also sell turkey. Many people eat it with ketchup. I like to eat mine with a scoop of cheesy eggs.

So, now I'm curious. Scrapple is VERY common around here. Does anyone else eat it?

~Another Blanket~

One large hook + six pounds of yarn = one very warm blanket for one sister-in-law.

The colors of the yarn match a quilt I made for her several years ago. Most of it was completed while the boys were reading their lessons to me. I loved the warmth of the blanket while I was crocheting!

My next crochet project is just about done!!!!

~Something to Chuckle About~

Thursday is my normal grocery shopping day. Nathan wanted to go with me last week (I was going in the evening when Gregg was home) and I thought that would be a fun idea. He asked if he could buy peanuts at the grocery store. I said sure. Then Nathan asked "Can we buy peanuts with the trash on them?" LOL! I laughed so hard once I figured out what he was talking about! So, here is Nathan with his peanuts. Now you all will chuckle the next time you see peanuts with the trash on them:-)

~The Rest of the Story~

Well, I have only been telling part of the story from Feb 2 - 12 :-) I don't really like all of blog land to know when I am home alone with all my kiddo's...so, you get to find out AFTER the big business trip!

You see, Gregg took off to the other side of the world for a ten day trip. We have been through this several times before... and have never had any incidents. Until now.

This is the short list of what happened while he was gone...

~ Jordan got sick...in bed 24 hours
~ one chicken found dead under trailer... hawks in the air
~ huge snow storm hit dumping 18" on us... chicken saved by dog
~ battery found dead on vehicle
~ toilet decided to not refill... good thing we have two:-)
~ Jared in bed 24 hours (some tired bug!!?!?!?)
~ Eric and Nathan coughing like crazy
~ had to cancel plans to get groceries due to sick boys
~ went to bed feverish... awoke with mastitis
~ went to bed with pills... awoke to 25" of snow (total)
~ a very sick mom took a very sick little boy to the dr... Nathan had pneumonia
~ awoke to sick baby girl (her first cold...she is fine now with no meds!)
~ canceled plans to go out with my valentine and another couple

Husband arrives to find a very tired, no, exhausted wife a few sick children and nothing to eat.

In all the years Gregg has traveled, I have never had an incident. I guess they all piled up. Thankfully, we have wonderful friends and neighbors who came to my rescue again and again. Every day God showed me He was with me. Our verse for the month is "Bear ye one anothers burdens" I was truly trying to do things for others this month. I guess God wanted to show me the other side of the coin! I am so thankful for each one that helped bear my burdens!

I'm thankful...
~ Jordan & Jared just slept and were well
~ Boys were able to bury chicken and shoot at hawk
~ Neighbor plowed us out
~ Friend jumped our van
~ Toilet started working later that afternoon
~ Dr didn't need to see me, called in some drugs
~ Friend picked up my prescription
~ Another friend brought some groceries and dinner
~ Neighbor plowed us out... again
~ We had power the whole time
~ Another neighbor drove Nathan to the dr while his wife watched the other children
~ Friend took big boys to a party for me
~ Husband arrived! Enough said!

Nathan was too sick to celebrate his birthday and I was too overdone to celebrate mine... It all worked out (rather nicely!) and we are happily back into routine this week!

~It's My Birthday~

It's my "birthday" today! It really was on Sunday (yes, Valentine's Day) but we celebrated today. Gregg had a half day because of his recent trip (I still need to tell you about that!!!) so we had some extra fun time! Here I am all dressed up and ready to go! Gregg brought this jacket home from Hong Kong! I love it!
The boys gave me this clear tea pot with tea flowers! I can't wait to try it! Gregg got me a quilt hanger for my quilt! Yay!

Gregg said he would take us out to eat...I could choose anywhere!!! I did an internet search for a place to go. I didn't feel like the "normal" places. I found a place in town (yes, the big city... on street parking) I really wanted to try. It was a cafe and creperie. There were many good reviews. It was a little place so we got there around 4 to beat the dinner crowd. The smoothies were delicious!I had a Veggie Santa Fe Crepe
Aaron had a Club Crepe. The other boys had Cheese Steak Crepes. We all LOVED them! Very, very yummy!

We split some dessert crepes. We enjoyed the nutella the most. This one was season fruit.

We did a little shopping and then headed home for some Birthday Cake!!! The boys mentioned earlier in the day that they wanted me to make my own cake. Mine taste better than the ones Dad buys :-) Gregg stopped at a bakery on his way home from work and got a Raspberry Creme/Chocolate cake. Delicious!Gregg also picked up some flowers for me! I love all the colors!
What a wonderful birthday! How old am I...35.

~Happy Birthday Nathan~

We were not able to celebrate Nathan's birthday on Saturday so today was his celebration! I can't believe he is already 3! We took him out for dinner...

He really loved this indoor play area! There were too many other children there at first. After a while, it emptied out and all the boys enjoyed some fun. We even got Jordan to go in. The older boys were racing through the obstacle course twice. Aaron had the fastest time of 38 seconds.I just had to go through once myself... ok, twice ;0)
At home, he opened his gifts. This gift was under some pillows and blankets. He started unwrapping it and said "there's no present in there." It was funny because we gave Eric one of these big wheels last month and Nathan thought it was Eric's.
I made Nathan a Peanut butter and Jelly cake. He requested cherries be put on the top.

He had a good birthday!
