~Road to Calvary~

I have been wanting to do some type of getting ready for Easter activity... but it always seems to sneak up on me. I never know when Easter is... and don't have time to really think through what I want to do... so I always do nothing. Then I say "next year I'll do something." It is a vicious cycle!

BUT

I was over visiting Anne and she posted a wonderful idea! She called it the Road to Calvary. It is an advent calender... just for Easter instead of Christmas. She has photos and devotions all typed up over at her place... so go check it out here! The devotions have scripture, verses to memorize, questions to think about, songs to sing and prayers.

I went shopping for some felt and Velcro last Friday night. I cut almost everything out after the kids were in bed. I spent last Saturday making the banner...
The rest of the week I was working on the symbols...
(oops, the bread and cup are upside down)

Here is what it looks like altogether! It would be easy to use paper if you don't have any felt! I'm sure children would love to help make one... my younger boys can't stop playing with the pieces. Also, I chose to hand sew mine together but you could use a sewing machine for the big stuff and glue for the little stuff.

Anne, thank you so much for sharing this!

~True Love~

All moms with boys know that Lego's are always everywhere. We also know that the vacuum is quicker than the eye. Sometimes we know a "cool" Lego from a "normal" Lego. Do you know where I am going with this!?!??!
I was vacuuming today and thought I had found all the stray Lego's (and crayons)... nope. Just as the hose went across the crack where the couch and floor meet I saw it. I couldn't stop. It was gone in a flash. I knew it was one worthy of saving.

Out to the windy rainy porch to empty the half full bag of yuck. I found it! and a few other "normal" Lego's.

That, my fellow moms, is true love :-)

~Nathan Does it Again~

Three important facts for this story...

Nathan's middle name is Thomas
Nathan likes watching Thomas the Train
I never use their middle name for trouble...only for fun

Mom says "Hi Nathan Thomas"

Nathan says "I'm not Nathan Thomas anymore... I'm Nathan Gordon"

LOL!

~Six Months~

My little sweetie is growing like a wildflower:-)
She still loves her fingers
But now, She also loves her toes!
She grabs for things too! She enjoys sitting up a lot more now...that bouncy seat has been put away. I also have to watch her more carefully in the swing. She grabs the sides!
She loves her brothers. She has some really good belly laughs. Not yet rolling. No teeth. Sometimes sleeping through the night. Only about 15 lbs. Her bald spot is growing hair again! She loves to pull hair and can pinch really hard! She also gives lots of wet slobbery kisses:-)

~More Crochet~

It is becoming quite a habit to sit down with a crochet hook and yarn. I am so glad something is being accomplished while I am sitting and listening to my young readers. Most of my day I accomplish things that have to be redone (cleaning and cooking are never finished!) ... my crochet actually gets done... complete... finished:-) Well, unless a curios little boy pulls on the yarn just to see what will happen... ANYWAY!I loved the shape of the blanket I made my cousin for Christmas so I made one for myself in just one color. It is big enough to cover my lap.

Then, I made this cute little hat for my little sweetie! Her bonnet was too small and I didn't want to spend the money on another one when spring is right around the corner. I found a pattern online (sorry, I can't find the link right now) and added a scalloped edge and ribbon. I was inspired by this photo ( and if you want to read an amazing and honest birth story of this little girl you can check it out here). I'd like to make her a hat with removable flowers too!!!

My next project... I've got a scarf half done:-) I know it is almost spring, but this was on my list since November:-)
