~Single Mom Ministry~

We have continued to work with the kids in our single mom group every other Tuesday.  This week we had a picnic.  It rained most of the day but we improvised.

We gave the moms time to chat after we ate and I kept the kids busy.

We had two teams of two.  One member had a shaving cream covered shower cap... the other team member had a bag of cheese curls.  The object was to get as many cheese curls on your partners head as possible.  Too funny!

Our next game was putting rice into a cake  pan with safety pins.  The kids were blindfolded and had to find the pins.  It was harder than you think!

We also played a clothes pin game.  Each child have five clothes pins on their shirt.  They had one minute to steal other people's clothes pins.

Jordan took the kids outside to play while we cleaned up.  I really appreciated the help!  Games are not my forte...

~Memorial Weekend~

Gregg was traveling over Memorial Weekend... so I had to come up with some fun things to do.

The new little Hess trucks came out, so I took the kids out to pick them up.  We also did some shopping at Ollies.  We came home for lunch and the boys worked on their cars while I did some cleaning and sewing.

I decided to take the kids to the park in the afternoon... thankful the big kids are able to entertain themselves for an hour to let the younger ones enjoy their fun.  I resisted the urge to take crochet or a book, I wanted to be available to play.  It was a beautiful afternoon.

We enjoyed dinner (hot dogs and popcorn) and a movie.  Their was something every one liked in the day... so, I guess I did good.

Sunday was a special program for our kids club that meets on Wednesday nights.  They did a great job singing and saying their verses. Kiersten is in a class of two... I can't imagine teaching two three year olds!

I wanted to go hiking on Monday, but not everyone wanted to.
Jordan - if he is not racing, he would rather stay home
Jared - why walk around when you can sit on the coach
Aaron - wanted to hike
Eric - wanted to go bowling
Nathan and Kiersten will do anything but would also be a lot for me to handle if they got tired of walking.

So... I looked up our local bowling place... It was dollar day!  One dollar games, one dollar dogs, one dollar drinks.

We had a great time!  Kiersten set her own ramp up and carried her ten pound ball... adorable!

I also got some fireworks :-)

It was a long weekend, but it was a good one!

~18 years~

Gregg and I celebrated our 18th Wedding Anniversary earlier this week.  He took the whole family out to a local Japanese Steakhouse for Habachi Grill!  He and I have been their several times but the kids have never gone with us.  They really enjoyed it.  I enjoyed seeing them enjoy it:-)

We did a little shopping.  Gregg was looking for shoes and I was trying to keep the kids busy.  We went up and down the escalator a few times... and then we went up the down... until we get yelled at.  Oops, yep... not supposed to do that. (We did stay out of everyone's way and even made some people laugh... but it is so very dangerous to go up the down...)

Since we couldn't get our excersise at the mall, we went to the park.  We had fun there until it got dark... then we had to move our party somewhere else.
Sonic has their milkshakes 1/2 off after 8pm.  Sounded like a great deal to me!  We even tried a peanutbutter bacon shake... well, some of them did.

We got home sometime around 11... I was exhausted but the kids were still going strong.  Thankfully, they went right to bed!

Nathan exclaimed the next day that he loved our anniversary... almost his favorite day ever:-)

~Owl Rescue~

The boys were walking up the road and saw something move in the tall grass.  They found an owl!  It really blended in well!  I figured it must have been hurt and would probably soon die... otherwise it wouldn't be there during the day.

My neighbors decided to try to help it.  They caught it in a net and we helped them put it in a box.  She took it to a rescue place and they said Mr Owl had parasites... probably from pigeons (our other neighbors have pigeons) and the parasites actually close off the owls throat.

They think the owl will be just fine with some medication.  It was such a neat thing to see a real life owl!!!  I assumed they live around here but had never seen or heard one before.

~Craft Sticks~

I saw this fun project with craft sticks... I decided it was more important to try this than it was to do my dishes and laundry:-)

We are excited about making a really long one when the floor is actually clean!

~Surprise Package~

Quote of the day: Boys walk into the kitchen and plop something on the counter "(gasp) Get that thing out of here (picture mom running from the room) I don't care if it's dead, I want it out of my house (panic type breathing) don't EVER do that to me again (insert white faced mom who thinks she might hurl)" Four boys file out of the house one by one with snake in bag while one boy stays behind to make sure mom doesn't have a heart attack.

~Kiersten Quote~

quote of the night: Kiersten, are you going to be good at the grocery store? (big sigh) "Why does everybody say 'are you going to be good at the grocery store'... (complete with hand gestures) it's h o r r i b l e, it makes my body hurt to be good that long"
