~The God of Love~

I'm not doing very well at catching up...just steady plodding:-)

Week 7 - There is no better topic!

If I am having a hard time being content...I am not really understanding who my God is! The next few lessons are about God's character...this week is love!

'

Just three thoughts today...

'

God's love is mentioned the most of all his attributes but when we are in trouble it is the one we question first...hmmmm.

'

If I hear well done from my Father it isn't because my godliness is so stunning...but because there is a father who loves me and wants to encourage someone who tried with his help. Think of a drawing your preschooler has handed you. You praise their drawing not because it is worthy in itself...but because you love the one who tried their best. You are handing God a stick drawing smeared with peanutbutter. He says well done!

There is nothing I can do to make Him love me more...or less...it is perfect love.

'

As always, here are some verses to ponder...

Rom 8:31 & 32 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

1Jn 4:16 - 19 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.

Psa 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
